The recycling challenge

It was a day mostly like any other day but it was earth day! A few days earlier we had found out we were doing a challenge to make something useful out of a box.

Me and Poppy went downstairs to work. We first had to plan what it would look like an so we came up with a cool idea for a table for dogs to eat from.

We used the fold-out box to make the stand but then we realized that we only had 2 legs and we needed 4. We went searching in the basement.

We went first into the wrapping paper room and looked to see if any roles were almost empty. All of them were full of paper and Mimi said we can't waist any paper.

So we went into a walk in closet with cardboard boxes in them. There are no things that can make legs like toilet paper roles or anything like that.

The last place we went was a big room with a lot of tools. We saw boxes and then we saw 2 Styrofoam blocks. And we took them out. They were a strong material so they would be great!!!

Then we had to staple in the flaps so they were not hanging. Then we just hot glued the foam blocks onto the box and it looked so great!

The next day we used a cool tool to make a circle without the creases. We used a sharp knife to cut out 2 circles to put bowls in. Then we were done ....... Almost.

We still had to decorate!!! My sister helped me draw hearts and I drew a puppy and a dog food bowl and I wrote in big bold letters, Wrens Kibble Feeder! It looked so good.

That day I learned that building with boxes is FUN!!!

  1. Wren's Kibble Feeder came out AMAZING!!! You had a few obstacles to overcome (like Mimi saying no wasting paper!) but you and Poppy persevered - that's a big word for did not give up!
